Incredibles 2 makes heroic North America box office debut

Incredibles 2

"Incredibles 2" flexed its muscles at the box office this weekend.

After an 11-year-sabbatical from animation, during which time he explored live-action filmmaking, Brad Bird has made a triumphant return to cartoondom by breaking the all-time domestic box office record for the opening weekend of an animated film.

If you haven't watched The Incredibles 2, I urge you to do so - it's an awesome film, and better than the original (which is hard these days, but seemingly not so hard for animated/CGI movies). The sequel to the popular 2004 computer animated film soared past the record for biggest animated film opening in box office history by $45 million.

The film stars Bullock as Debbie Ocean, sister of Danny Ocean (originally played by George Clooney), as she assembles a gang of talented women to plan a seemingly impossible diamond heist from the Met Gala in NY. Playing in 503 locations, the long-delayed film which boasts a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, took in $1.7 million. The box office numbers have also been huge.

Germany 'very bad' in shock Mexico loss, says Loew
Because, despite Mexico tiring after a relentless hour of football, they were utterly incapable of finding a way through. Former England captain Terry Butcher said on 5 live: "It was one of the best games I have seen in my life".

Disney's head of distribution, Cathleen Taff, attributes the massive opening to pent up demand for another "Incredibles" film, along with positive word of mouth.

The film tells the story of the Parr family - matriarch Helen (Holly Hunter) is called upon to help bring the world's hiding superheroes back into the open, as husband Bob (Craig T Nelson) navigates the day-to-day work of being a homemaker.

Lewis went on to say that she was not calling for a boycott of Incredibles 2, but she did express concern about the lack of warning notices. The expensive "Star Wars" film has had difficulty gaining traction at the box office since launching with $103 million over a four day weekend.

Veronica writes that "Incredibles 2" is "filled with tons of strobe/flashing lights", and explained that people with photosensitive epilepsy aren't the only ones who could be affected - those who suffer from migraines, vision impairments, seizure conditions, vertigo (specifically flicker vertigo), autism, ADHD, and PTSD could also experience a reaction to the images.
