'Race 3' gets Salman Khan a racy start at Chennai BO

Box Office Race 3 takes a very good start of Rs. 29.17 crore on Day 1

Race 3 has crossed Rs 175 crore gross mark at the worldwide box office in three days, but the movie has failed to beat the first-weekend collection records of Salman Khan's Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.

The superstar has gifted them his Eidi with his big budget action thriller, "Race 3", and they have returned the favour by going out in huge numbers to the theatres.

The third installment of the Race franchise is Khan's 13th offering that has made Rs 100 crore and more. And industry experts remained hopeful.

Meghan's father sorry to have missed wedding to Britain's Prince Harry
Ms McCorquodale's wedding also made headlines because the bride wore the Spencer tiara, which Diana wore to her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the figures on Twitter. #Eid festivities give MASSIVE BOOST to its biz... Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor's Padmaavat maintains the top spot with Rs 114 crore. The film is also Salman's fourth one to cross the Rs 100-crore-mark in three days, after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. The film that released in 5,000 screens globally, is also doing well overseas including the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

Along with Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem are also part of the ensemble. So how did his film perform at the Chennai Box Office? This time, his first film for the year is being released on Eid eve, and already the flick has been declared one of the biggest hits. "It's like the film is part of people's celebrations and they come in hordes even if the reviews don't match expectations".

Salman Khan is regularly releasing his films on Eid eve, and it seems it is his lucky charm. "It wasn't a film meant for Eid when people just want to have mad fun and are not looking for a heart-wrenching story", Johar pointed out. However, the real litmus test of the film would be on the weekdays.
