'Modern Family' Boss, Seth MacFarlane Embarrassed to Work for Fox

MacFarlane, whose animated "Family Guy" is broadcast on Fox TV, tweeted on Saturday that he was "embarrassed to work for this company", referring specifically to its connection with Fox News.

"I have made two films for 20th Century Fox and love the people in the movie and TV divisions". "For now, I will take some time to see where these people land, and at that point I will make a decision about my future".

He also tweeted "Michael Tammero at Fox News is assisting kidnappers (The President and his administration) who are holding children for ransom".

But more people who are now or formerly associated with Fox are joining the sharp rebuke of the conservative news network and its parent company for the network's defense of the Trump administration and its immigration policies.

Chris Sosa is the Senior Editor at AlterNet. On Monday, MacFarlane donated donated $2.5 million to National Public Radio.

There's A Good Reason Why Trippier Didn't Celebrate After Kane's Goal
To be the best player in the world you have to aim high - you can't aim low - so just put no limits on yourself. I'm guessing that 7pm on a weekday night must be pretty good timing to show them but still, incredible to see.

There are some indications, however, that the ongoing criticism of Fox News could end up hurting the company's business.

But internal tensions have boiled over in the wake of Fox News' coverage of the Trump administration and its policies toward immigration. It is worth noting that his current contract with 20th Century Fox Television is set to expire next year giving him an out if he wants it. And predictably, Fox News has toed the commander-in-chief's line, with Laura Ingraham on Monday going so far as to dub these establishments "essentially summer camps [or] boarding schools".

Seth MacFarlane attends the 2018 Fox Network Upfront at Wollman Rink, Central Park on May 14, 2018 in New York City. "How can you remain silent when they promote these policies?"

MacFarlane responded to Carlson's comments on Twitter two days later, calling them "fringe" and stating he was "embarrassed to work for this company".

In a statement, Fox News said that Ingraham's "very personal, on-the-ground commitment" to children in need speaks for itself, as does her belief "in a commonsense, legal immigration system, which will continue to be a focus of her show". The parent company is also in the midst of selling off a large chunk of its entertainment assets, which have received bids from Disney and Comcast. "But we have a lot of clients in the last six to 12 months who have pulled their business off Fox News and will now not support Fox News because it is too risky".
