Senegal goalkeeper blunder sees Honda drive Japan to vital point

Japan and Senegal play out entertaining draw

Senegal could become the first African country to book a spot in the round of 16 of the ongoing World Cup in Russian Federation, with win against Japan on Sunday evening.

However, Takashi Inui equalised for Akira Nishino's charges in the 33rd minute with curling low strike that found the bottom corner. Honda came on the field a minute later and evened the score.

However, the Japanese were edging closer to going ahead after the hour mark, stretching the Senegalese with their direct approach.

Moussa Wague restored Senegal's lead in the 71st minute.

European Union slaps tariffs on iconic U.S. products

Just five or so minutes later Senegal looked as though they may have done enough to claim three points when 19-year-old right back Moussa Wague turned in at the far post following good work from Senegal on the left flank for his first ever worldwide strike but late substitute Keisuke Honda broke Senegalese hearts with an equalizer on 78 minutes.

Senegal were living dangerously towards the end, playing deep in their own half, but they managed to hold on for a precious point in Group H.

In a result that does little for either side, Japan got a late goal from Keisuke Honda to earn a point and remain atop of Group H, regardless of the outcome of Sunday's Colombia-Poland match.
