Snapdragon-Powered Laptops Could Soon Get a Big Boost

The reference gadget Qualcomm is using to test out the Snapdragon 1000 is apparently running 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which gives one a vague conception of the specs we're talking about for laptops running the chip. This alleged chipset is said to be created to function on more powerful Windows notebooks and 2-in-1 devices. The much rumored Snapdragon 1000, however, is expected to be a different story.

That's almost three times the power draw of Intel's Y-series processors and just 3W behind the chipmaker's U-series chips.

Now here is something very interesting to note; the Snapdragon 1000 is reportedly not completely soldered on the mainboard but features its very own special socket like Intel and AMD motherboards are made for desktop systems. Our interest in the other products, of course, speak for themselves, and it would be good to know Microsoft's most interesting products are powered by Qualcomm's strongest mobile processor. This chip is expected to power Windows 10 PCs with ARM-based architecture in the future; however the exact timeline remains a mystery. It supports the latest Wi-Fi, Gigabit LTE, and believed to have a new power management controller. The Snapdragon 1000 chip is being constructed from the start with the aim to function for laptop devices rather than the smartphones. Machines based upon the SD845 would be approx 25 per cent faster than the previous generation, said Qualcomm.

'Why are you tweeting at me?' Jimmy Fallon hits back at Trump
Why are you tweeting at me?" "He's lost, he looks like a lost soul". "But you know what he's a nice guy". I can laugh at myself", he said after bemoaning the lack of Johnny Carson-level talent on TV.

The TDP which stands for Thermal Design Power of the Snapdragon 1000 is around 12 watts.

Qualcomm will also reportedly look at the performance of a U-Series Skylake Intel processor as the benchmark. Qualcomm hasn't confirmed or denied anything about the Snapdragon 1000 just yet.
