Manchester United reach agreement with Marouane Fellaini 72 hours before contract expiry

Marouane Fellaini- Marouane Fellaini had been in negotiations for a new contract for months

In a transfer saga that had potential to emulate the furore surrounding Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann destination, Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has finally decided where his future lies.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who is now on worldwide duty with Belgium at the World Cup in Russian Federation, is due to be out of contract on July 1.

Fellaini turned down an extension in September, preferring to hold out for a longer deal, but a new, improved deal is reportedly what got the new contract done.

"Soon I will say where I will be playing next season".

I don't have his number, I don't want his number", Fallon said during the show. "You say my name three times there and I appear". In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter , Fallon said it was a "mistake" and that looking back, he'd do it differently.

The midfielder's contract at Old Trafford expires at midnight on Saturday and the Belgian will confirm his next move after five years in Manchester. The former Everton man joined United in 2013 when he was signed by David Moyes for £27.5m.

The report claims that Fellaini has agreed to sign a new two-year contract, which if completed will see the player take his stay with the English giants to seven seasons.

Aside from Fred, United have also signed Portuguese youngster Diogo Dalot so far this summer as they look to close the gap to Champions Manchester City.

Speaking this week, Fellaini claimed his next move had already been sorted and told reporters: "I am not anxious about my contract running out, I am used to it. The contract has been signed and I'm going to announce it in a few days". He will, however, continue to play a part in games where physical presence is required and should be a good backup plan for United.
