Cohen says his loyalty is first to family and country, not Trump

"My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will", Mr. Cohen, Mr. Trump's former personal lawyer, told ABC News' George Stephanopolous.

The former Trump lawyer told Mr. Stephanopoulos that he hoped speaking out would help him achieve "resolution". He spoke to Stephanopoulos in an off-camera interview over the weekend and the details were released on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday. Stephanopoulos tweeted a similar photo. His home, office and hotel room were raided in April as part of a probe by federal prosecutors in NY into his personal business dealings.

Last month, Trump said he is no longer being represented by Cohen and claimed that the two had not spoken in a "long time" despite the lawyer being a longtime confidante of the USA leader.

Cohen did not discuss the Daniels payment with ABC.

The raid stirred rampant speculation that Cohen could be pressed to provide damaging information on Trump, whom he has fiercely represented for years.

"I believe it was a mistake by those from the Trump campaign who did participate", Cohen said. In fact, he's stopped answering the question altogether, although he tells Stephanopoulos that "I want to answer". However, the lawyer had recently said he felt "let down" by Trump, who appears to have distanced himself from Cohen in recent weeks, according to the Hill.

Cohen also denied any personal involvement with Russian attempts to interfere in the USA election and said he never colluded with the Russians in any way.

Paul George agrees to stay with Thunder on max contract
Paul George is now officially one of National Basketball Association free agency's hottest commodities. The Los Angeles Lakers will receive serious consideration too, sources said.

Tantalizingly, Cohen then hinted heavily that he has information to share on two hot-button and possibly damning episodes for the President: the infamous Trump tower meeting when "dirt" on Hillary Clinton was promised, and the $130,000 hush money payout made to Stormy Daniels during the election.

"I can't comment under advice of my counsel due to the ongoing investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York", Cohen said. Further, he has publicly said Cohen would not make up "stories" and "flip".

"My silence is broken!" he added. As far as Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, Cohen said, "I don't like the term witch hunt".

"I don't like the term 'witch hunt, '" Cohen said, taking issue with the way Trump has characterized Mueller's investigation into Russian Federation interference in the 2016 election and possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Perhaps nothing at all will come out of this, but it's not a good sign for the White House that Cohen clearly thinks he's in big trouble and is sending out semaphore signals to prosecutors about cutting a deal.

Nevertheless, he criticized the members of Trump's campaign who attended the meeting, saying it was "an example of poor judgment".
