Cruise Worker Goes Overboard, Found by Another Cruise Ship

Norwegian Getaway

Usually, when something like this happens it doesn't end up good but for a change, we have a miraculous rescue from the Carnival cruise ship.

The crew member was overboard the Norwegian Cruise Line operated ship at around 28 miles northwest of Pinar del Rio, Cuba.

The cruise ship Carnival Glory found and rescued the missing person 21 miles north of Cuba.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, released a statement that reads in part, "This is nothing short of miraculous. Kudos to the Carnival Glory team for this incredible effort to rescue a fellow seafarer", the spokesperson said.

Heat advisory this weekend through Monday night
Temperatures will be a touch cooler in the Midwest, but heat index levels will still hover around 100 degrees from Texas to MI . One difference from Saturday , winds will be a bit more brisk at times, gusting to near 20 miles per hour out of the south.

The Getaway, which left Miami June 24 for an eight-day cruise, returned to Miami on Sunday.

Passengers on board the Norwegian Cruise Line ship said staff onboard the other vessel could be seen using binoculars to try and locate the man, CBS Miami reported.

The crew member is now in stable condition and the incident is also under investigation.

The 33-year-old Filipino man was in stable condition, the Coast Guard said. "We will be disembarking him when we arrive in Cozumel on Monday, for further treatment and care by Norwegian Cruise Line". The Coast Guard said it searched an area of 1,630 square miles. There has been some speculation online that the member went overboard in the early hours of that morning. "We are so happy to know that the individual is safe and will soon be reunited with friends and family".
