Boomers BasketBRAWL: Aussie Stars Involved In Violent On-Court Fight In Philippines

FIBA Gilas Group B set up for explosive finish

A mass brawl erupted at an global basketball match between the Philippines and Australia on Monday, with players trading flying kicks and punches in extraordinary scenes which stunned onlookers.

"Let's call this for what it is".

Members of both countries figured in a free-for-all on-court brawl that resulted to the ejection of 13 players at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. "I hope Fiba bans the Filipino federation for a year!"

"Hours later and my blood is still boiling".

Ejected from the game on the Gilas side were Talisay City-native Pogoy, naturalised player Andray Blatche, Terrence Romeo, Jayson Castro, Carl Bryan Cruz, Calvin Abueva, Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar, and Matthew Wright.

"Luc Longley might have just saved Chris Goulding's life". Holding a chair over him, the Australian guard was repeatedly punched.

A wild brawl erupted between the Boomers and the Philipines. But (Kickert) was the one who came in and decked Pogoy.

"It is a tremendous honour to represent Australia, the Milwaukee Bucks and the National Basketball Association and my goal is to reflect that in my conduct and play".

The Philippines was eventually left with just two eligible players on the court, before the match was halted at the end of the third quarter.

Basketball Australia Chief Executive Anthony Moore also sent his regrets during the morning presser, but rued some of the actions made by Gilas players and their supporters.

Moore admitted Kickert's action was an "unsavoury act" and "challenging" to defend but said his main concern was what happened afterwards.

Microsoft details its 'pocketable' Surface device in leaked email
Renders (see below) created by David Breyers look nearly exactly like the current prototype's, according to The Verge's sources. This is a clear indication that the company has plans to launch a dual-screen mobile device in the near future.

Both basketball organisations are awaiting penalties for the brawl.

He added: "This is not the spirit in which sport should be played and certainly not in the spirit in which we aim to play basketball".

"We trained, had numerous players fall and fall heavily and our team management undertook a course of action that we actually apologised for".

Global basketball is intense, physical and often tensions boil over in the form of hard plays or technical fouls but this night will stain the game.

There are players charging off the bench, there's some crowd involvement, there's a small man landing some blows on a much larger man, there's a guy getting hit with a chair - what else do you want?

With players departing the Philippines to various locations around the world, time frames are unclear.

"One thing they have to know about this team is we are not going to back down". Kickert is a model professional with an excellent disciplinary record, hopefully that is taken into account.

With the Boomers wining their World Cup qualification pool and the Philippines also progressing as runners up, penalties may also be faced by the teams in the next phase of qualification.

The Boomers were leading 89-53 in the third quarter.

But in the mean time video of this brawl will be shown around the world and each showing brings shame to all involved.
