Paul Krugman explains how the Trump turned the world against the US

EU warns Trump's car tariffs threaten $300 billion of US exports

The submission said European auto companies are "well established" in the United States.

Speaking to host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures, Trump said this when asked if he'd consider working with US allies to combat China's trade policies: "The European Union is possibly as bad as China, just smaller".

Brussels delivered the threat amid growing fears of an escalating trade war, as the USA president targets the bloc and others, including China, as part of a campaign to protect United States jobs.

"Economic analysis confirms that an increased tariff on these products will be harmful first and foremost for the USA economy", the letter said. With China promising to retaliate equally, stocks in the USA and overseas have been declining.

President Donald Trump cited national security concerns for the previous tariffs.

"I don't think trade wars are good for anybody", said Tom Bracken, president of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.

The commission also pointed out that European vehicle companies employ 120,000 Americans in manufacturing plants in the United States.

China, Japan, and South Korea all reported that their export orders eased back in June as trade tensions continue with the US.

Missing Thai soccer team found in a cave after nine days
He told a hastily-called press briefing at around 10.30 pm that the boys were all found alive at a spot near Pattaya Beach. Search teams from China, Japan, Australia and England had also traveled to the area to assist in the rescue operations.

In a letter to United States authorities, the European Commission, which handles trade policy for the bloc's 28 members, painted a stark picture of what the United States economy would face if Trump followed through on his threat. "Trump only understands the language of power", one high-ranking European Union diplomat told Handelsblatt.

"China now feels it can try to split off the European Union in so many areas, on trade, on human rights", the official said. But he lifted the exemptions the same week he met with Group of Seven leaders in Quebec last month.

European envoys say they already sensed a greater urgency from China in 2017 to find like-minded countries willing to stand up against Trump's "America First" policies.

He did, however, double down on Sunday, saying in an interview with Fox News that: "The European Union is possibly as bad as China, just smaller".

As for the chances of a global recession, Yu says a lot still needs to happen before we get to that point.

The European Union is seeking to pass legislation to allow greater scrutiny of foreign investments.

Krugman warns that consequences of these disputes affect the structure of world trade: "The U.S.is now behaving in ways that could all too easily lead to a breakdown of the whole trading system and a drastic, disruptive reduction in world trade". "It's unlikely to mark a systemic change".
