Joey Chestnut, Miki Sudo Win 2018 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contests

Miki Sudo won her fifth women's title in a row, downing 37 hot dogs.

Miki Sudo celebrates after winning the women's annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4, 2018 in Coney Island. The women's record is held by Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, who ate 45 in 2012. Chestnut marked a new world record set using his signature style of stuffing two frankfurters down his throat at a time.

A world record holder in nine other competitive eating categories, including shrimp cocktail, deep fried asparagus and matzah balls, Chestnut likely is to face his stiffest competition from Matt Stonie, who sits as a +350 underdog in head-to-head betting on the hot dog contest odds against the reigning champion.

Joey "Jaws" Chestnut devoured 72 hot dogs in just 10 minutes.

That didn't stop the Las Vegas eater from easily beating out second-place finisher Mischelle Lesco of Tuscon, Arizona, who chowed down 28 wieners and buns. Chestnut and Sudo each took home the coveted mustard belt and $10,000 for their eating prowess.

When interviewed shortly after his 11th victory in 12 years, Chestnut insisted he ate 74 hot dogs and that those keeping track of him egregiously miscounted. He none the less did something practically inconceivable while in competition: downing a record 74 wieners and buns in 10 minutes' time. Sudo has won the last four. CEO Eric Gatoff talks about how the company is celebrating a century of feeding NY, how it keeps up with increased competition, and the right way to dress a hot dog. According to Major League Eating, the body that oversees professional eating contests, Chestnut once ate almost 13 pounds of deep-fried asparagus in 10 minutes and 55 glazed donuts in the same amount of time.
