England would hate to lose to Sweden, says Sven-Goran Eriksson

Sweden have reached the last eight for the first time since 1994

Sweden have lost to England just once in eight competitive meetings - a 3-2 defeat during the group stage at Euro 2012 - but Andersson said past records are meaningless.

"We know Sweden usually play well against England".

"I think the chance is very big", said Eriksson.

"Before I was the national team coach, the demand was that you would get to the final and preferably win it, but if you got to the final it would be OK - a quarter-final was useless", he told Swedish state broadcaster SVT in an interview.

Ibrahimovic scored 62 goals in 116 games for his country and a debate raged about whether or not Janne Andersson should bring him back into the squad for Russian Federation, but they seem to be doing well enough without him.

"Their strikers are defenders when it's time to defend, and they can defend in their own box as well".

"[If England beat Sweden] then you have to meet Russian Federation or Croatia". English Captain Harry Kane leads the race for the World Cup's Golden Boot with six goals, though three of his goals are from penalties. Switzerland could have played for a week and still not scored against Sweden.

Novak Djokovic through to third round at Wimbledon
Serena Williams , the seven-time Wimbledon victor , is seeded 25th after her tentative return from the birth of her first child. Nick Kyrgios, seeded 15, unleashed 42 winners to see off Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

"He's risky on set-pieces and in the box he is incredible".

Sweden, finalists in 1958, are competing in their first quarter-final since 1994.

"They should continue doing what they´re doing", Ibrahimovic said.

"Sweden will be more or less the same as Iceland in Euro 2016 - they don't have the best footballers in the world, and none of our players would play in the first team of the biggest clubs in the world since Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) has left". Italy couldn't score in 180 minutes in the qualifying play-offs.

Sports psychologist David Horrocks, director of Sensible Soccer Ltd, says previous results have no statistical bearing or influence on future performance.

Yes, I think Sweden can become world champion, just like I said before the World Cup started.

Eriksson was England boss between 2001 and 2006 but will be supporting Sweden on Saturday. I hope Sweden but it is going to be very tight - 50-50.
