Former UCLA basketball player found dead in Sherman Oaks home

Authorities said a man fired at police and barricaded himself in a Sherman Oaks Calif. home on Friday

A former college basketball star who later played for the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets was found dead Saturday after exchanging gunfire with the LAPD, the LA Times reports.

They later tweeted that the suspect appeared to have suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LAPD later tweeted that the SWAT team intervened and the player was pronounced dead at the scene. Several residents in the area had been evacuated as a precaution.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Tyler Honeycutt, according to TMZ.
