Turns Out IHOP Didn’t Change Its Name To ‘IHOb’ After All

IHOP on Twitter

The IHOb campaign appears to have accomplished its goal of getting people to talk about IHOP, USA Today says, noting that YouGov reported an increase in its Word of Mouth Score.

The national diner tweeted on Monday that they will reverse the name change decision and announced a celebratory date for the restaurant.

As a peace offering, the company is offering 60-cent short stacks on July 17 in honor of its 60th anniversary. It's to celebrate the restaurant chain's 60th birthday. "And it worked. Look at us, two silly pancakes talkin' about burgers", they explained of their nearly-one-month marketing stunt.

The name change lit up social media.

Pompeo holds out Vietnam model for N
Leaked US intelligence findings have concluded that North Korea does not intend to give up its nuclear programme completely. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrives in Japan after wrapping up two days of talks with senior officials in North Korea.

Though the company has officially changed its name back to IHOP, it confirmed on Twitter that it will still be selling its new burger line. Some fans called the name change "bizarre" and "a nightmare". And, IHOP never took pancakes off the menu. They said it was a way to turn their focus away from breakfast and to its enhanced burger menu.

Or maybe we were just gullible.

"It remains to be seen whether the buzz will translate to people being more likely to consider dining at IHOP", according to Business Insider.
