Paul Manafort arrives at court after witness tampering charges

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's mugshot has been released as he moves from a comfortable prison to one that formerly housed terrorists.

Not long after Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) Judge T.S. Ellis III had some stern words for Paul Manafort's lawyers and ordered the defendant to be transferred to the Alexandria Detention Center, Manafort's team has chose to fight back on another front. Phone logs show that he has made more than 300 calls, including more than 100 to his lawyers.

Manafort's trial in Alexandria is scheduled to start July 25.

Manafort asked for the delay on the grounds he has been unable to prepare for his trial properly since being jailed.

In yet another twist, despite initially arguing that being held at the rural jail hurt his case, Manafort opposed the judge's order, asking to stay at Northern Neck and citing "safety" concerns as the rationale for staying put.

Fresh, confident and Southgate - the key words to describe England team
This is why I am proud. "It's hard to put that into context now, and a bit too soon". The Daily Telegraph said losing to Germany was "England's worst World Cup defeat".

In monitored phone calls at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Va., Manafort has told others he is being treated like a "VIP", the government team added.

In their court filing today, prosecutors sought to pick apart Manafort's arguments that he needs to delay the trial because of his jail conditions. He has a personal laptop on which he can review materials from the case and access to his own workspace to meet with his legal team, they said. That's how they know about his "VIP" remark and it's how they know that the claim he can't prepare for the trial is nonsense. He has his own bathroom and shower, a private telephone and laptop, and is not required to wear a prison uniform, the prosecutors said. They said Mueller's team "does not pause to consider the reasons a detained defendant might have to make his situation sound better when speaking with concerned friends and family". Ellis denied Manafort's motion Wednesday and ordered Manafort transferred. That trial is scheduled to start September 17.

Paul Manafort arrived at the jail in Alexandria, Virginia - the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center - Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Alexandria Sheriff's Office.

Ellis, the judge in the Virginia case, has directed lawyers for both sides to appear on July 17, to argue about whether the case should be delayed or moved.
