Chelsea FC Announce Jorginho Addition, Man City Reportedly Fuming

Antonio Conte

Chelsea have signed midfielder Jorginho from Napoli on a five-year deal, with the Italy global becoming new head coach Maurizio Sarri's first recruit, the Premier League side announced on Saturday.

Sarri has always been tipped to take over from Conte, however Chelsea dragged out the sacking of his fellow Italian, whose departure was only confirmed today, after two years at the club. The 26-year-old was a star player for Maurizio Sarri's side that pushed Juventus all the way in the Serie A title race last season.

"It is an exciting new period in my career", said Sarri.

I'm not sure if he'll need bodyguards, either, but Sarri was certainly optimistic about a new chapter in his life and reckons Chelsea should be competing for trophies in the coming months.

Sarri has signed a three-year contract with Chelsea and expressed his delight at joining the Blues.

Cesc Fabregas has paid tribute to Antonio Conte after the Chelsea FC manager's departure was all but confirmed on Thursday evening.

He was decidedly critical of May and her Brexit plan, saying he "would have done it much differently". The next, he says Prime Minister May can manage Brexit however she sees fit.

Club director Marina Granovskaia said: 'We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea.

"Maurizio's Napoli side played some of the most exciting football in Europe, impressing with their attacking approach and dynamism, and his coaching methods significantly improved the players at his disposal".

The Premier League champions recently signed Riyad Mahrez for a club record £60m fee, and the winger won't be a guaranteed starter by any means.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea tried to find a negotiated settlement during the summer but were unsuccessful.

Chelsea will fly out to Australia for their first pre-season game on July 23.

Maurizio Sarri had to defend himself against accusations of homophobia and sexism while interviewing for the Chelsea job.
