Here is what Barack Obama will do during his visit to Kenya

Barack Obama praised the work of his half-sister Auma right and reminisced with Mama Sarah centre with whom he caught a chicken in 1987

The former United States president arrived in Kenya yesterday to open a charity set up by his half-sister, Auma Obama, in the village where their father grew up, 250 miles northwest of Nairobi in Kogelo, Siaya county.

Immediately after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Mr Obama's motorcade headed straight to State House to a meeting with President Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and other senior government officials.

Odinga at the same time commended Obama and his sister Auma Obama on their foundation which seeks to empower the youth in the country.

Obama is in Kenya to help launch the sports and training centre founded by his half-sister, Auma Obama, through her foundation Sauti Kuu. There, he is expected to hold a meeting with Kenyatta and opposition leader, Raila Odinga. Odinga and Kenyatta on March 9 pledged to work together, ending months of turmoil following a disputed presidential election that was nullified by the Supreme Court and a rerun which the opposition boycotted.

Many Kenyans consider Obama native to this country- a local kid made good- and bask in the glory of his success, despite the fact that Obama never lived in Africa. He barely knew his late father for whom he was named, Barack Obama, an economist.

There are just handful journalists who have been accredited to cover the event in Siaya before Obama leaves for South Africa where he is expected to lead Nelson Mandela celebrations.

Barack Obama will spend a day in Kenya and then proceed to South Africa for a three day trip.

The former US President who arrived in the country on Sunday 15 July, will be received by Governor Anyang' Nyong'o. Induct the youth "The former US President called for greater induction of the youth into the initiative to ensure its deepening into the future", read the statement.
