Donald Trump's presidency draws all round criticism

Mr Putin said was 'ready to take retaliatory steps'

The media may not be the "enemy of the people" Trump says they are, but many are implacable enemies of this president.

Putin has long insisted that the Kremlin had nothing to do with the hacking, denials that Trump said the Russian leader repeated during their private meeting Monday.

"President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin". As such, his extraordinary performance on Monday fueled criticism of his presidency from both the right and left.

Sure enough, critics and even some usually reliable defenders were quick to pounce. John Brennan, who served as Central Intelligence Agency director between 2013 and January 2017, called the president's comments "treasonous".

Wallace interviewed Putin right after his two-hour summit with President Trump in Helsinki.

His scepticism drew a quick formal statement - nearly a rebuttal - from Mr Trump's director of national intelligence, Dan Coats.

President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday, and the two leaders held a odd and stunning press conference at the conclusion of their summit.

President Trump then blamed the Obama administration and the DNC for allowing hackers to gain access to election data, while Putin fiercely denied Russian Federation interfered with the 2016 election.

We are past the point when Trump's conduct - which leaves future elections wide open to Russian manipulation - can be ascribed to his unwillingness to do anything that will tarnish his glorious victory. As for USA troops in Syria, says Trump, they will be coming out after ISIS is crushed, and we are 98 percent there.

There is only one message Trump should have sent Putin in this meeting: "You have attacked our democracy, as well as two core pillars of the global economic and security order that have kept the peace and promoted prosperity since World War II - the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation". "I have confidence in both parties".

Other congressional Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who until now had issued only muted criticism of Trump's attitude toward Russian Federation, were more critical on Monday.

Cardinals make big change, fire manager Mike Matheny
Ozuna has failed to live up to lofty expectations, entering Saturday night's game hitting.270 and with 10 home runs. Within a couple hours of the loss, the Cardinals sent out a tweet announcing the firing of manager Mike Matheny.

But perhaps the harshest critique came from a member of Trump's own party, Republican Senator John McCain, who said in a statement: "Today's press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory".

"I beat Hillary Clinton easily and frankly we beat her..."

The American president said it is a "shame" there is a cloud over his administration, but said he ran a "brilliant campaign and that's why I'm president".

Trump couched the summit as a triumph of diplomacy, saying he was demonstrating statesmanship by agreeing to the meeting with Putin and savaging those who have expressed concern over its timing and what might have been on the table.

Standing alongside the Kremlin boss at a joint news conference, Trump acknowledged that his intelligence chiefs believe Russian Federation hacked and leaked Democrats' emails containing politically damaging information about his rival Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Many in Washington were agog at Trump's decision to sit alone with Putin, anxious about what he might bargain away to the former KGB spymaster, after previously cosying up to the autocratic leaders of China and North Korea.

Russian President described Mueller probe as "the internal political games of the United States".

Putin did not answer a question on whether he has collected compromising personal material on Trump and his family.

Rosenstein also risked angering Russian President Vladimir Putin by claiming his country's GRU - equivalent to the Central Intelligence Agency - then spread the stolen documents online. He is right that the committee did not turn its communications system over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the agency investigated Russian hacking.

Putin declined but, according to the Post, he did send "a "friendly" letter and a gift of a Russian lacquered box" to Trump.

And what I would tell the Russians is exactly what I have told their ambassador and others, is, if you thought it was going to help things, it's actually backfired, because there can be no rapprochement with Russia, no engagement with Russia because of the meddling in the election.
