Elon Musk's 'pedo' attack rattles Tesla investors: 'This thing is unraveling'

Elon Musk

A British cave diver who helped rescue 12 Thai boys from deep within a cave has said he is considering suing tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.

"I believe he's called me a pedophile", he said.

Unsworth was part of the team of divers who guided 12 boys - whose ages range from 11 to 16 - and their soccer coach out of a flooded cave where they had being trapped for almost 10 days.

Musk's incriminating statements came after the cave expert, Vern Unsworth, dismissed the SpaceX CEO's mini-submarine, hastily built for the rescue effort, as a "PR stunt". Only people in sight were the Thai navy/army guys, who were great.

Four days after Tesla's fourth-largest shareholder urged "a time of quiet and peace", chief executive Elon Musk lobbed one of his nastiest stink bombs yet: an accusation about an organizer of the Thailand cave rescue that investors say is a major distraction from his mission running the embattled automaker. "It just had absolutely no chance of working".

Tesla's stock lost four percent or $2 billion of its value on Monday following Musk's comment.

Vernon Unsworth, 63, said he was "astonished and very angry" at the attack, for which Musk offered no evidence or basis.

Tesla spokespeople and lawyers did not respond to emails and phone calls from Reuters requesting comment on Musk's comments on Twitter.

According to the MailOnline, Mr Unsworth has not seen Musk's tweets yet but when he does he will weigh up his options and when he was asked whether he will take legal action he said 'if it's what I think it is yes, ' before adding: "This ain't finished".

If you're already acquainted with Musk and his freaky entanglement with the Thai cave story, you may skip to the end of this report for a fuller accounting of his baseless pedophilia accusations.

Trying to imagine what it would look like if thing with Elon Musk calling that guy a pedo would be mentioned in like the first paragraph of every news story about him. But when Musk called a British diver involved in the Thailand cave rescue a pedophile in front of 22.2 million Twitter followers Sunday, he may have gone one tweet too far.

Unsworth then said similar to the AFP.

Musk, who has recently made a habit of arguing with critics on Twitter, has been fiercely defending his involvement in the rescue mission. Musk has since deleted both of the tweets. In response, Mr Musk, 47, posted a series of tweets insinuating that as...

"Would you consider taking legal action against him?" a reporter asked, again.
