Syrian regime forces close in on area near Israeli-annexed Golan Heights

Smoke following an explosion in Syria is seen from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights near the Israeli Syrian border

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also confirmed that Damascus government units had made a "quick advance" against militants in the western part of Dara'a.

The Syrians are carrying out the same strategy they used in other parts of the country - force the rebels to negotiate a surrender and allow them and their families to retreat to other rebel-controlled areas.

"The Syrian jets do not dare to reach the Quneitra area due to an agreement struck between Russian Federation and Israel in the southern front", Qahwaji said.

A witness on the Syrian side of the frontier said people were seeking shelter wherever they could as the offensive drew closer to their location. They are trapped between the Israeli border and advancing regime forces with little shelter from the harsh summer weather.

The Daraa onslaught took less than three weeks to break the rebels' grip, with the regime now in control of more than four-fifths of that province's territory, the Observatory said.

It has been heavily bombed by Russian and Syrian army raids in the past two days as the army has moved closer to the Israeli border after gaining control of most of Deraa province to the east in a push that began last June, according to rebels and a war monitor.

Thousands of Syrians have fled towards the Israeli border on the Golan Heights seeking a safe zone and according to the United Nations, over 120,000 Syrians have fled their homes due to the offensive.

Netflix reports weaker-than-expected new subscriptions in the second quarter
Bloomberg analyst Geetha Ranganathan was expecting the company would add about 5 million overseas customers during the quarter. The company reported earnings of $384 million, or 85 cents a share, up from $66 million, or 15 cents, a year earlier.

A rebel official, Abu Shaima, said at least 500 fighters were going to get on around 15 buses and that his bus was already on the road north to opposition-held Idlib province. The station said the evacuation of almost 1,000 people will likely be completed by Sunday.

"Buses began moving from the gathering point towards the edge of the city to be searched", said Mr Abdel Rahman.

Tel Aviv has frequently attacked military targets inside Syria in an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering defeats at the hands of Syrian government forces.

Under such agreements, rebel forces hand over territory as well as their heavy and medium weapons to regime troops in exchange for a halt to bombing.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the US-Turkey deal on Syria's northeastern Manbij city with his American counterpart Donald Trump over the phone, Turkey's presidential press office said on Monday.

Syrian regime forces backed by Russian Federation made sweeping advances on Monday against rebels holding out in the country's south, a monitor and regime media said.

More than 350,000 people have been killed since the eruption of the Syrian conflict in March 2011.
