The best Amazon Prime Day 2018 deals so far

Amazon Prime Day Sales: Top deals on smartphones, TVs, Amazon Echo and more

Shoppers in the U.S. and elsewhere are struggling to access Amazon's website as one of its biggest annual sales, Prime Day, gets underway.

Acer Chromebook 11 | was $219 now $139 on Amazon If you're looking for a cheap Chromebook for your kids, right now on Amazon Prime Day you can score an Acer Chromebook 11 with a Celeron N3060 CPU, 4GB RAM and a 16GB eMMC drive for a whopping 36% off! Amazon's Prime Day starts July 16, 2018, and will be six hours longer than last year's and will. Shoppers were expected to spend $3.4 billion on the site during the event, up more than 40 percent from a year earlier, according to Coresight Research. The company brought in a total of $177.9 billion in sales previous year across its retail and web services division.

Backing up the assertion, research from Bassuk's firm shows that almost four out of 10 Americans plan to shop somewhere else besides Amazon on Prime Day.

According to DownDetector, most of the outages are centred on the US.

Prime is the "most critical driver" for Amazon's e-commerce business in the long run, argued Cowen analyst John Blackledge. Many are shopping successfully - in the first hour of Prime Day in the USA, customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour previous year.

You have to be a member to participate in Prime Day, but there are ways to circumvent paying the $119 annual fee, at least initially. However, it should be noted that these deals will be open exclusively for Prime members only. It's a particular embarrassment for Amazon, on the shopping holiday it created that has become one of its busiest days. And, for Amazon Prime Day, you can score a whopping 28% off!

These technical glitches are likely to cost Amazon millions of dollars in sales.

"Retailers are capitalizing on consumers shopping around Prime Day". "Retailers need an effective strategy to address it".

Goldberg noted that it's easy for Amazon to extend deals on its own devices and brands, but trickier for it to extend deals for its third-party sellers because they signed up for different promotional slots.

It's highlighting discounts on its growing lineup of private label brands such as Stone & Beam, Rivet, Presto!, Wickedly Prime, and Goodthreads.

As this is Amazon Prime Day, deals are likely to disappear sooner than later, so be sure to snag them quick. Amazon is driving traffic to Whole Foods by lowering prices and increasing Prime discount benefits. If you want more versatility and access to Google Play apps, grab a 2-in-1 model.
