The Ride the Ducks tourist boat sank near the Showboat Branson Belle with a reported 31 people on board.

"It's going to be all night", Rader said.

All missing people appeared to have been accounted for.

Meteorologist Jason Schaumann says some of the storms are expected to churn up large hail and damaging straight line winds when they hit Friday afternoon in the Branson area where the Ride the Ducks boat sank.

Diving teams from various agencies scoured the waters for potential victims, and will resume again in the morning. He has asked for all Missourian's thoughts and prayers for everyone who was involved in this tragedy. Parson also flags in the state to be flown at half-staff for a week. The National Transportation Safety Board said it has launched an investigation into the accident.

Guain Holloman, of Tennessee, places a flower on the windshield of a auto in the Ride the Ducks parking lot in Branson on Friday.

Passengers on a nearby boat described the chaos on the lake as the winds picked up and the water turned rough.

"Debris was flying everywhere", Allison Lester said in an interview Friday. He says people jumped into the water to help save one woman. EMTs arrived before he could administer CPR, he said.

At about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, CoxHealth reported that Cox Medical Center Branson was treating eight patients, two of them in critical condition. "We're very resilient." Severe evening thunderstorms, including winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, struck the area at the time of the deadly crash.

In 1999, a duck boat on Lake Hamilton, Arkansas, sank drowning 13 of its 21 passengers.

Rader says an off-duty sheriff's deputy working security helped rescue people. Seven people were taken to the hospital immediately following the incident, while dive teams from Western Taney County and the Missouri State Highway Patrol worked on recovery efforts late into the evening. He wrote, "My deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those involved in the awful boat accident which just took place in Missouri".

Ride the Ducks is a national duck tour operator with locations across the United States, and the Branson operation was purchased previous year by Ripley Entertainment, spokeswoman Suzanne Smagala-Potts told The Washington Post.

A spokeswoman for Ripley Entertainment, the parent company of Ride the Ducks Branson, said the company is in contact with their employees at the scene, said.

Branson is about 200 miles from Kansas City, and is considered a major family vacation destination.

Duck boats are amphibious vessels that travel on both land and water, and are popular among tourists in major cities.

The company that builds ducks, Ride the Ducks International LLC, agreed in 2016 to pay a $1 million fine after one of the vehicles, which operate on land as well as water, collided with a bus in Seattle, killing five international students. But the accident in Branson is drawing attention to the safety of the vessels, as dozens of people have been killed in multiple accidents just over the past two decades.
