Xiaomi Mi A2, A2 Lite launched: India availability, specifications and more

Xiaomi Mi A2 listed on two popular online retail stores for pre-orders ahead of launch

In 2017, a new wave of Android One phones launched in various countries, and they weren't all ultra-budget hardware. That means we are looking at a 6.9-inch 1080x2160px IPS LCD, a dual 12MP + 5MP camera and an 8 MP selfie snapper. The clips also show a phone that's rather similar to the Mi 8 in the first place. Both the smartphones come loaded with identical design language, though the major difference is in terms of specifications. The company's Mi India Twitter handle has confirmed the launch date soon after Xiaomi announced the Mi A2 (and the Mi A2 Lite) for the global market in Spain. Despite offering a display panel with an nearly 6-inch diagonal, Xiaomi managed to ensure the Mi A2 is a rather compact device, being only 158.7 x 75.4 x 7.3mm in size and weighing just 166g. It is running Android One, too.

The sensor packs in 4-in-1 Pixel binning technology for better image quality, along with automatic HDR, AI-powered bokeh effect and Beautify 4.0. As a plus, Mi A2 Lite will have a massive 4,000 mAh battery. This year's Xiaomi Mi A2 is based on a almost identical hardware to that of the Mi 6X - the successor to the Mi 5X. The battery isn't removable and will typically provide you with a day of use on a single charge, as is the case with most other products in this price segment.

The smaller and cheaper variant of the Mi A2 has a screen size of 5.84 that comes with the 19:9 aspect ratio. The highlight of the smartphones is that they come with Google's Android One program and feature stock Android OS.

Xiaomi now sells three different TV models in the country and Mi TV 4 is the most premium offering in its lineup. The smartphone will ditch the display notch.

Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite are official, both Android One with dual cameras and mid-range specs

This Tuesday, the company will likely debut the Mi 6X in Android One form as the Mi A2 in Madrid. Blue, Black, and Gold will be the color options for both devices. The device houses 3GB of RAM paired with up to 64GB of storage capacity. Connectivity shouldn't be an issue either, with all models supporting GSM (B2/3/5/8), WCDMA (B1/2/4/5/8), TDD-LTE (B38/40), and FDD-LTE (B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20) networks. The Mi TV series made its India debut in March alongside company's best-selling Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, and has been available on sale for sometime now.

The Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display backed by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. For the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, you will need to pay €179 and the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant costs €229.

Xiaomi has just announced two smartphones that offer a pure Android experience with Android One. There is a 20MP front-facing camera with soft LED flash.

Xiaomi Mi A2 price starts at Euros 249 for the base 4GB RAM and 32GB storage version.
