Google Clock app can now use Spotify for alarms

Google Clock is introducing a new feature that allows you to connect your Spotify account and wake up to whatever playlist you wish.

Google is calling these "musical alarms" which is just a fancy word for alarms with a song as the ringtone.

Thankfully, the new feature is available to both Free an Premium Spotify subscribers, so if you don't want to you won't have to shell out any cash to choose your wake-up music. Users with the Google Clock app installed on their phones will be able to "browse recently played music, choose from Spotify's curated morning playlists, or search for a specific soundtrack" in the clock app. What that means for you is that you no longer have to wake up to boring alarm sound in the morning. Despite the service's large music catalog, the actual user experience has driven many users back to alternatives like Spotify. Now, you can more easily, with Google Clock.

Heading into the "Alarm Sounds", you will encounter two new tabs namely "Sounds" which is for default alarm sounds (beep...beep!) and "Spotify" where you will now be able to choose from your favorite music.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson has also told 9to5Google that YouTube Music will be receiving a similar integration into Google Clock in the near future. But there's no word on the time frame, so until then, you are better off with Spotify.
