Google Maps update brings a nifty feature to location tracking

Google Maps Street View It looks as though the man in the blue T-shirt has been felled by his pal

Google has been testing its Maps location sharing service with a pretty unorthodox new feature for a while now. If you check the location of a contact, you'll also see what percentage their battery is at too. The battery level will be indicated with a percentage.

Google is also bringing in India-specific features on Google Maps to address unique challenges and opportunities, a senior company official said. It will then show up on the recipient's map, and they'll be able to follow directions to the location you're at. Knowing where they now are plus how much juice is left on their mobile device can definitely help the user get to their destination faster. So you might want to be careful when telling someone you didn't pick up their call because your phone was dead, as they might already know the truth.

The new feature isn't exactly new, though.

After Public Praise for Diane Black, Trump Embraces Bill Lee
She has benefited from center-stage appearances alongside Trump and Pence in public events and fundraisers in Tennessee. Each candidate has been heaping praise on Trump and attacking the others as insufficiently loyal to the president.

The feature has been in the works for some time - news site Android Police noted it back in February when doing a deeper analysis of Google Maps software, although it appears to have only become widely publicly available recently. Now, it's much more precise, and it also displays a charging icon as well.

We tested out the battery percentage on both ends and it is fairly accurate. Of course, sharing your location with a friend remains voluntary in the Android application. You'll now be able to reference Google Maps to ease the situation a little bit. This feature requires no update to the Google Maps app. As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
