The police report goes on to reveal that once France was arrested, the officer searched France's vehicle, and found oxycodone, a controlled substance, in the auto.

NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France was arrested Sunday night in NY for aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree.

France, 56, was pulled over and arrested about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after police said they saw his 2017 Lexus roll through a stop sign near the Sag Harbor waterfront. Officers reportedly found oxycodone on France during a search. France was arraigned Monday Morning at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court and was released on his own recognizance.

The president's relationship with the company goes back some years, to a proposed Trump Motor Speedway in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His grandfather William HG France founded the organisation, while his father, Bill Jr, also served as CEO until he stepped down in 2000. Brian France became CEO in 2003.

NASCAR released a statement Monday (via The Associated Press) saying, in part, the organization was "aware of the incident" and "in the process of gathering information". NASCAR said further comment would be forthcoming after an examination of the facts in this case.
