IGP exonerates police from NASS invasion

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has exonerated the Nigeria Police Force from Tuesday's blockage of the National Assembly (NASS) by security operatives.

Seiyefa arrived at the presidential villa in Abuja around 4pm on Tuesday.

Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), will act as Director-General until further notice.

He said "Obviously, like I said, I have not got a detailed brief on that".

Operatives of the DSS, wearing masks blocked the gates of the National Assembly this morning, preventing senators and workers from gaining entrance.

Yemi Osinbajo has terminated the appointment of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura.

"By this statement, Professor Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action". The siege was lifted about an hour after Mr Daura was sacked from office.

The new DSS boss who came to the Presidential villa Abuja, in an SUV vehicle was later chauffeured in a different auto, a Peugeot 508 model with Lagos registration number: AAA 961 BB as he left. However, lawmakers were later allowed in while journalists and staff of the assembly were barred.
