Pacific hurricane absorbs trop storm; new storm in Atlantic

Hurricane Hector

Farther out in the Pacific was recently formed Tropical Storm Kristy, which had sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (85 kph) and could become a hurricane.

Hector's center will track about 150 miles south of the Big Island today, then continuing westward, remaining well south of the rest of the Hawaiian Islands through Thursday.

The conditions needed to stir up hurricanes are lacking, noted Phil Klotzbach and Michael Bell of Colorado State University's Tropical Meteorology Project.

Surf along the island's east-facing shores is already building and will peak later today and tonight, at 12 to 15 feet for the Big Island mainly in the Puna and Kau districts with 6 to 10 feet surf for eastern Maui.

According to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center, the center of the hurricane was located about 225 miles south-southeast of Hilo, or 400 miles southeast of Honolulu.

In 2006, Pitt adopted Jolie's children, Maddox and Zahara , both of whom were adopted by Jolie prior to their marriage. Meanwhile, a second source tells ET, " Brad always fulfills his commitments" when it comes to his children.

In the early morning advisory, the hurricane center noted that Debby lost its subtropical characteristics and became a tropical storm. Subtropical storms usually have winds that are spread out farther from the center, and they are often asymmetric. It was likely to bring rain to the southern peninsula, as well as heavy surf.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for Hawaii County as Hurricane Hector continues its approach toward Hawaiian waters.

Debby is the fourth-named storm of the season.

Another tropical storm farther out in the Pacific and one in the northern Atlantic posed no threats to land.
