Koreas prepare for summit as North asks USA to ease sanctions

National Security Advisor John Bolton at the White House on Aug. 2 2018

He continued to note that the US has no current plans to relax sanctions on North Korea until there is evidence the country is taking steps to denuclearize, saying the Trump administration would continue its campaign of "maximum pressure".

A foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement on state-run KCNA that North Korea was still willing to institute the broad agreement reached at the June 12 summit meeting in Singapore between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"They have to understand that the global community still expects them to denuclearize and so we're willing to wait if they want to wait, but we're not willing to wait for too long", said Haley, who has pushed through three United Nations sanctions packages since arriving at the world body 18 months ago.

"Dealing with Americans is hard, and as our main goal is total disarmament of the whole Korean Peninsula, it is necessary that the Americans also abide by their commitments but they refuse to do so".

"I can tell you we continue to have conversations virtually every day, every other day or so with the North Koreans", Heather Nauert, U.S. State Department spokeswoman, said Thursday "When I say 'conversations, ' that can be by phone, that can be my message, that can be by email".

"They made public the North Korea Sanctions and Enforcement Actions Advisory; and additional sanctions".

Manchester United linked with shock deadline day move for Diego Godin
Bouyed by Godin's desire, the Premier League side lodged an offer to his agent and waited to hear back from Atletico's board. But Uruguay's signing can be a great news for the fans as he is considered as one of the best defender's in La Liga.

A statement from the North Korean government, broadcast via the Korea Central News Agency, accused United States figures of spouting "falsehoods" about the North Korean nuclear issue.

North Korea will preserve its nuclear know-how despite its promise of denuclearisation to the United States, Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said during a visit to Tehran, Iranian media reported on Thursday (Aug 9).

Seoul said it accepted the North's proposal after Pyongyang first suggested a meeting Monday to discuss another summit between the leaders.

The North noted that they returned remains of US soldiers who fought in the Korean War to the USA last week.

It has urged Washington to take reciprocal steps including officially declaring an end to the war and dropping sanctions. But across the region, there have been signs that U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign for "maximum pressure" lost steam after Pyongyang sought to improve relations with Washington, Seoul and Beijing.

South and North Korea technically remain at war as the Korean War ended only with the armistice treaty.
