Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City: Pep eases past Emery

Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal coach Unai Emery has admitted that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a better manager than him ahead of their clash on the 12th August 2018.

Guardiola said: "The target is to win on Sunday and then, after that, (against) Huddersfield and then Wolves".

Both managers approach on Sunday will be crucial in the outcome of this match.

Emery's side continued with their pressing approach and nearly forced an equaliser as Hector Bellerin cut inside and tested Ederson with a drilled effort.

For Arsenal, their biggest concern will be at left-back with two specialist players in that position out for the fixture.

New Chelsea star Jorginho has an awesome penalty routine
Unfortunately for Huddersfield and their manager David Wagner, Hazard was at his brilliant best. Then in the second half the opponents were a bit exhausted and it was easier".

The former PSG boss threw Matteo Guendouzi straight into the starting XI while Ainsley Maitland-Niles was given the nod to fill the void at left-back.

The Greek global was brought earlier this summer, in order to provide more steel in the backline following the retirement of Per Mertesacker at the end of last season. The fact that Kevin De Bruyne was only fit enough to be a substitute would appear to have confirmed that. As for Arsenal, there wasn't much creativity and Mesut Ozil was had a horrendous day. Emery tends to shift between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, but probably needs three solid midfielders against this City side. Sergio Aguero hit the ground running with a brace in the Community Shield win and will lead the line against Arsenal. Their defence will be even stronger this season too, especially after the World Cup campaign's Kyle Walker and John Stones had. City's left-back missed nearly the entirety of last season through injury, and his overlapping will bring an extra dimension to City's attacking play. But, it looks likely that Leno will be the club's first choice for the season over Cech.

"I am focused on that, not focused on back-to-back (titles)".

Arsenal rarely threatened as an attacking force until the introduction of Alexandre Lacazette for the willing but unrewarded Aaron Ramsey early in the second half. "Manchester City have given me a fantastic squad". Ederson, meanwhile, has a very long kick he's not afraid to showcase, despite City's focus on possession. But Emery insisted Welbeck won't be one of those leaving the club as the rest of the continental transfer season plays out, while saying David Ospina, Carl Jenkinson and Joel Campbell would be allowed to leave if they wanted.
