Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. day-to-day with elbow injury

Schultz Ronald Acuña wasn’t easy to find by former Braves scout

- Rookie star Ronald Acuna Jr.is back in the lineup for the Atlanta Braves, hitting leadoff one day after being plunked on the left arm by Miami's Jose Urena.

Snitker called Urena's actions a "damn shame" after the game.

Braves first-base coach Eric Young was suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his role in the incident, Major League Baseball said Thursday. "That kid didn't deserve that".

Urena's fastball was timed at 97 miles per hour. The Marlins pitcher denied any wrongdoing and said he was merely trying to throw inside. He became the first player to hit leadoff shots in three straight games since Baltimore's Brady Anderson led off with homers in four straight games in 1996.

Benches and bullpens for both teams emptied onto the field twice after the pitch.

Pitcher Jose Urena hit Acuna with his first of the game, leading to benches clearing between the Marlins and Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.

The data suggests the beaning was intentional: Urena's 97.5-mph heater was the fastest pitch he's ever thrown to open a game, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

In the top of the second inning, Acuna walked in from left field in obvious discomfort and was replaced by Adam Duvall, a recent acquisition from the Reds.

The hot streak raised Acuna's batting average for the season to.288, and he entered Wednesday's game with 19 home runs, 43 RBI and a.922 OPS in 67 games.

He tied the Atlanta record of five straight games with a homer, set by Brian McCann in 2006.
