Trump ready to set tariffs on all goods from China

The Trump administration hopes to curtail the theft of USA technology and intellectual property by Beijing, which Navarro says is the catalyst behind China's economic growth.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he has tariffs ready to go on a further US$267 billion worth of Chinese imports, as the world awaits his decision on imposing levies on US$200 billion worth of the Asian nation's goods.

The implementation of tariffs on US$200 billion of products from China "will take place very soon depending on what happens", Trump told reporters on Air Force One on Friday.

About a sixth of the items were among the products already hit by USA tariffs recently imposed on US$50 billion in Chinese goods, such as pressure-reducing valves or lubricants.

He added: "We've taxed them $50 billion that's on technology". -China negotiations, saying Trump wants to push structural reform on China, not simply divert the flow of goods in bilateral trade.

"More broadly, tariffs will lead to higher USA consumer prices, lower overall US economic growth, and other unintended economic consequences". The S&P 500 Index fell by 0.1% to the lowest in two weeks. "Now, they've got to treat us fairly", he said, and again threatened to impose duties on cars produced in Canada. The president earlier this week signalled an agreement with South Korea was close to finished.

The Trump administration had indicated it was ready to move ahead with a next round of tariffs after the end of a public comment period, which finished at midnight in Washington on Thursday, but the timing is uncertain, people familiar with the administration's plans said.

Musk also warned about humans' dependence on fossil fuels, which he called " the dumbest experiment in human history". The podcast was two and a half hours long, but social media quickly focused on the brief second of smoking.

"It's never too late to make good trade policy", said Kudlow.

That would cover virtually all the goods imported from the world's second largest economy.

Trump said Friday that the timing of the tariffs on the $200bn worth of goods is not yet final.

"Canada has been ripping us off for a long time".
