Embattled Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast Thursday night for a sprawling two-and-a-half hour long interview which culminated in the pair sharing a huge tobacco-infused marijuana joint.

The latest guest on the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Musk talked to the former Fear Factor host-turned-libertarian media star for three hours, touching on subjects from stockholder expectations to electric jets.

Tesla will stay public, Musk said on August 24, ending more than two weeks of speculation and calculation about how much a go-private deal would cost and who could be involved in it.

Recreational marijuana is legal in California, but Musk had previously dismissed questions about whether he used the drug.

The online incident follows turmoil at Tesla Inc. this week as the news that two senior executives have chose to leave the electric-car making company.

"I mean it's legal, right?" said Musk, before taking a puff. "Before Tesla, Chris ran several ultra high volume factories at PepsiCo", Musk informed, adding that Laurie Shelby, Tesla's VP, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) will also report directly to him.

The drop comes the same day as the public announcement that chief accounting officer Dave Morton would resign.

Concerned investors drove Tesla's stock price down 5 percent to $265.22 as of 12:12 p.m. on Friday.

In a new blog post, Musk announced a number of top management changes after discussing with the Tesla board of directors and executive staff.

Some Wall Street analysts are again calling for Tesla to appoint another senior leader for the company to take the pressure off Elon Musk, or rein in his control.

He said: I think the future in where we are a space-faring civilisation out there among the stars, that is very exciting.

Mr Morton said he still believes strongly in Tesla's "mission and future prospects" and has "no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting".

"Many people ask if Elon is still the best CEO for Tesla". Tesla has battled negative headlines surrounding Musk's behavior, including a reported Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation into Musk's stated intention on Twitter to take the company private.

Elon Musk announced a major shakeup in Tesla's executive ranks on Friday, just hours after a freaky interview left some investors rattled. Morton had taken over for the company's previous account head, Eric Branderiz, who resigned on March 7 citing "personal reasons". Meanwhile Musk somehow can't stop accusing one of the cave divers who rescued those trapped children in Thailand of being a pedophile.
