Trump, escalating trade war, threatens tariffs on all goods from China

President Trump acknowledged on Twitter that Apple prices could go up as a result of the "massive tariffs" he's proposing on China, but rather than accepting blame for a potential hike on popular consumer items, he said the company should move production to us shores.

The administration could decide to begin taxing the imports - equal to almost 40 percent of all the goods China sold the United States previous year - after a public comment period ends Thursday. These U.S. goods include soybeans and beef - a direct shot at supporters of President Donald Trump in the U.S. farm belt.

Trump told reporters about the tariffs on Friday while returning to Washington DC from Montana, where he held a campaign-style rally Thursday night. And I hate to say this but, behind that, there's another US$267 billion ready to go on short notice, if I want.

There's no final decision on that round of tariffs as the U.S. Trade Representative's office continues to "run their process", White House Deputy Press Secretary Lindsay Walters said on Friday. The iPhone maker said the tariffs will eventually lead to more expensive Apple products.

"Make your products in the United States instead of China".

The U.S. Trade Representative's office received almost 6,000 comments and held seven days of public hearings on the proposed levies.

The observatory said 19 barrel bombs had been dropped and there was also shelling from government areas. Erdogan, meanwhile, may have been the leader with the most to lose ahead of the offensive.

"That totally changes the equation", Trump said.

Tech companies are also weighing in, with HPE, Cisco, Dell, and Juniper penning a letter to US Trade Rep Robert Lighthizer asking him to hold off on imposing additional tariffs on networking gear, arguing the penalties would only serve to hurt their business in the US.

Lighthizer is due to meet Monday in Brussels with EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom to resolve the dispute ignited when Trump imposed steep duties on all steel and aluminum imports. The company said on its website that it spent over $50 billion for goods purchased from US suppliers previous year.

As trade relations between the two countries continue to get strained, Apple said in a letter to the USA trade representative that the move would "hurt" the company, according to CNBC report.

He added: "We've taxed them $50 billion that's on technology".

The tariffs would pressure China to stop that behaviour, the administration has said. The Trump administration is deciding whether to extend penalties to another $200 billion list of Chinese imports.
