George Papadopoulos says Jeff Sessions 'quite enthusiastic' about Trump-Putin summit

Papadopoulos's comments on "This Week" were his first in public since being sentenced Friday to 14 days incarceration, one year of supervised release, 200 hours of community service and a $9,500 fine. The DNC - which is suing Russian Federation, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks for interfering in the 2016 election - said in a court filing Friday that it believes all the defendants in the case have been served with the complaint, "with the exception of Mifsud (who is missing and may be deceased)", Bloomberg reported.

No meeting of Trump and Putin occurred during the 2016 campaign.

Among those who seemed to like the concept, he said, was then-Sen.

Even after his arrest and plea agreement past year, Goldstein said, Papadopoulos continued to be hard, only providing information after being confronted with documents such as emails and text messages. Trump deferred to then-Senator Jeff Sessions, who was "enthusiastic", he said.

Papadopoulos repeated that assessment of Sessions' enthusiasm on other networks as well.

Mr. Sessions has testified that he pushed back on the idea.

When asked what he had to say about Sessions' statement, Papadopoulos said his memory of the entire saga was very different from the attorney general's. "Is he telling the truth?"

Mangiante Papadopoulos responded, "I come from a political background myself. My recollection differs from Jeff Sessions".

Papadopoulos was the first former Trump aide to be sentenced in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Moscow's interference in the 2016 election.

Trump rips Woodward, says book about White House is full of lies
Both men are accused in the book of effectively removing things from Trump's desk to prevent him from taking certain actions. Woodward's latest work, Fear: Trump in the White House , paints a portrait of Trump as uninformed and mercurial.

After the judge issued the sentence Friday, Papadopoulos stepped away from the defense table and paused in a long embrace with his wife. Papadopoulos had allegedly met with people connected to Russian politics. In April 2016, the professor told him the Russians had thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails, court records say. Papadopoulos said Mifsud invited him to a British hotel for breakfast, where the professor claimed he had information that the Kremlin had some of Clinton's emails.

"As far as I remember, I absolutely did not share this information with anyone on the campaign", the ex-Trump campaign aide told CNN's Tapper.

"We have interviewed over a hundred folks", Warner said. His fear? That he would be swept into a brewing scandal about Russian contacts and miss out on a job in the Trump administration. "This was not a noble lie".

Papadopoulos finally said that he was "remorseful" for how things had turned out, but claimed that he had never done anything without the knowledge of senior Trump campaign officials.

The memo says he gave the Federal Bureau of Investigation "misleading" information about his contact with Mifsud, Olga and Timofeev.

Papadopoulos told Hannity it felt like a bomb was dropped on him.

The two said they could set up a meeting between the Trump campaign and Russian government officials.

Papadopoulos then explained that following his interview to enter Trump's campaign, his then current employer, the London Center of International Law Practice, sent him on a seemingly random trip to what he described as "some sort of spy school" in Rome where he encountered the professor.
