Google will discontinue Inbox by March 2019

Gmail and Gmail

What do you think about Google killing support for Inbox?

Now we have an official date for the app's end: Inbox by Gmail will be permanently out of office by the end of March 2019, the tech giant announced on Wednesday.

"Four years after launching Inbox, we've learned a lot about how to make email better, and we've taken popular Inbox experiences and added them into Gmail to help more than a billion people get more done with their emails everyday", Google product manager Matthew Izatt writes.

Even the most recent features included in Gmail, such as "Snooze Emails", "Smart Reply", "Hover Actions", and Follow-ups (or nudges), were initially present only on Inbox by Gmail.

Philippines: 10 million people lie in path of "destructive" Typhoon Mangkhut - Philippines
Mangkhut has already swept past the U.S. territory of Guam, in the western Pacific, where it caused flooding and power outages. Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to bring heavy rains and flooding along the northern coastal provinces of Cagayan and Batanes.

Well, in case you haven't noticed, numerous features that Inbox touted are now native in Gmail.

The closure of Inbox was hinted at when Google rolled out the new Gmail to users earlier in the year. This merging of features led to uncertainty about the future of Inbox, and ultimately, to its demise.

They've complained that Inbox's handy features, like bundling of trip-related emails and GitHub/Trello notifications, haven't quite made their way to Gmail yet, and who knows if they will. It's a service many of us use every single day. The company claimed that it had no plans to change its email client and saw it as a place to continue testing innovative features. In it, Google walks customers through using some of their favorite features from Inbox in Gmail as well as discover new ones.
