Here’s what happened to Nike sales after their Kaepernick ad dropped

President Trump on Wednesday criticized Nike for its new advertising campaign featuring Kaepernick the NFL quarterback who sparked controversy by kneeling in protest during the national anthem. The original Nike ad is seen in the image above

While Kaepernick, along with other NFL players who knelt during the game's national anthem, maintains that they are protesting about police brutality and the deaths of unarmed black Americans, critics are still quick to throw a backlash at the players.

On Monday, Kaepernick tweeted a photo of his face and the phrase, "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything". "It's a handsome spot", Woods said.

The former 49ers quarterback is revealed as the narrator toward the end of the spot. "If Nike really does believe that law enforcement in this country is unfair and biased, I think we will look around".

On Friday, the morning after the full version of the Nike ad played during the Philadelphia Eagles v Atlanta Falcons NFL season opener, the president asked: "What was Nike thinking?".

"I think Nike's trying to get out ahead of it and try and do something that's special. Some pretty powerful people in the spot".

Pope summons bishops for summit on sex-abuse prevention
The meeting in February will bring together the heads of all national bishops' conferences, from more than 100 countries. But within the divided church , Francis's stance on the underlying reasons for abuse have been contested.

But Nike also received some praise for including Kaepernick and a reference to the contentiously debated protests in the campaign, which also features star athletes such as LeBron James and Serena Williams.

Woods has been a big part of Nike Golf through his 14 major championships, no moment more indelible than when his chip shot on the 16th green at the Masters hung on edge of the cup for two seconds - with the swoosh facing the camera - before dropping. "When corporate does things that are outside of golf and outside of my realm, that's what they do".

Nike has sponsored Kaepernick since 2011 and the advertising campaign marks the 30th anniversary of its "Just Do It" slogan. But some have begun to boycott Nike in opposition to his inclusion.

Trump, who has repeatedly criticized Kaepernick and other National Football League players for the kneeling protests, slammed Nike on Friday, tweeting: 'What was Nike thinking?'

Brooks Koepka, the PGA Championship victor and two-time U.S. Open champ, said the biggest victor might be the publicity sparked for Nike. "So Nike is doing what they want to do".
