Weah, on his first worldwide appearance in 16 years, led the attack and showed glimpses of the class that made him a household name around the world. They can ask that certain players must be part of the team.

Liberian President George Weah has said he wants his country to emulate Nigeria in terms of football development.

On the same day his father was appearing for Liberia, Weah junior started the USA's 1-0 friendly win over Mexico.

Weah, 51, featured briefly for Lone Star in the encounter, and his every touch on the ball was hailed with loud roar from the fans.

Henry Onyekuru found the top corner to open the scoring before Simeon Nwankwo doubled the tally.

However, after the break, the pace of the game changed with the Lone Star increasing their attacks, but did not get closer to find the back of the net.

The resultant spot-kick was converted by Liberia's No.9.
