Browns to release WR Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon Released by Cleveland Browns

Gordon was ruled out for the Saints game on Saturday due to a hamstring injury despite no mention of the issue on the injury report during the week.

"This afternoon, we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday", Browns GM John Dorsey said in a statement announcing the move.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Gordon injured his hamstring at a promotional shoot, and the Browns, leery of his past missteps, are reportedly already attempting to find willing trade partners.

In a shocker announcement released Saturday night, the Cleveland Browns said they are parting ways with serially troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon.

Details are slowly starting to emerge surrounding the Cleveland Browns' shocking decision to move on from Josh Gordon.

Maurizio Sarri invites John Terry to join Chelsea coaching staff
Sarri is known as a heavy smoker and said during the global break his father was trying to persuade him to quit. The 28-year-old is likely be under heavy pressure in London and how he stands up to the challenge could be key.

Gordon, who has dealt with substance abuse problems for most of his career, missed training camp as he sought mental health treatment but made his return ahead of the season opener.

We don't know the official word yet, but the Browns clearly reached the end of their rope with Gordon, who is one of the most talented receivers in the National Football League but has struggled with his sobriety and been a thorn in the Browns' side after the team went above and beyond to help him recover. He first was suspended in 2014, and did not play again until November 2017, when he was reinstated on a conditional basis. Gordon caught just one pass on three targets, but it was a 17-yard touchdown that tied the game with less than two minutes left in regulation.

Despite his past issues, Gordon was welcomed back by the Browns late last season.

The Browns announced in mid August that Gordon finally had reported. He went on to play five games that season, recording 18 catches for 335 yards.
