OnePlus to Launch a Smart TV Based on Android in Early 2019

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau

OnePlus founder Pete Lau.

The release said it is a natural extension for OnePlus to address gaps in the television industry, which it tackled in the smartphone market balancing high-quality hardware with the latest in technology. OnePlus has declared its interest in the segment by launching a new division that will be led by the company chief, Pete Lau.

The OnePlus TV is in the early stages of development, and could be launched next year.

Since 2013, we have focused on building the best smartphone possible. Like it's doing with its smartphones, OnePlus will take suggestions from its community on what features to include, something I don't believe any other TV manufacturer is doing.

Lau is best known now as the head of a cell phone company, but he has a home electronics and video background. But OnePlus does, and did.

A move into the TV business is somewhat surprising but, as OnePlus has major investment from Oppo Electronics it's not too surprising that they may want to expand global brand success of OnePlus to other devices. Company founder Pete Lau hopes to release its debut television in 2019, meaning we might not have long to wait for the first non-smartphone-related product from OnePlus.

India's oil imports from Iran to decrease further
The 15-member OPEC (The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) cartel pumped 32.98 million barrels per day last month. It did not change its forecast that worldwide demand will rise 1.4 million barrels a day this year and 1.5 million a day in 2019.

We are building a new product of OnePlus' premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home. "They haven't really well-integrated the internet into the [TV] experience, and making the experience match with what would be expected in today's connected society". "This will have to be a process that proceeds step-by-step", he explains. "It won't be something that's flawless and absolutely complete and revolutionary from the start", he told the publication.

"With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless - and we are looking forward to the future", he added.

We call it: OnePlus TV. As of now, the company is calling it the OnePlus TV.

Mr. Lau stated that OnePlus will solicit ideas from the community on what features and functionality it wants from a TV.

To begin with, the OnePlus TV is going to be smart, Lau says. The publication quoted him as saying that his vision is to make a TV with seamless connectivity to a user's smartphone. That's definitely one way the smart TV industry could change. OnePlus seems to be focusing on "intelligent connectivity" with the OnePlus TV that is likely to be backed by 5G. Ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro like in-display fingerprint sensor. The blog post also hints that the TV will be connected with your smartphones.

Some examples of this kind of AI/TV integration exist already.
