8 new Alexa devices planned including a microwave, report says

Amazon plans to release at least 8 new Alexa devices, including a microwave oven and in-car gadget

The microwave will put Amazon head-to-head with the General Electric Co., which already offers a smart microwave, itself Alexa-enabled. JBL has released several smart displays equipped with Google Assistant. It is worth adding that some of the OEMs have already launched devices and even cars that support Amazon Alexa voice assistant.

Amazon could reveal these new devices at an event by the end of this year, an internal document indicated, CNBC said.

Amazon is expected to announce these devices later this month, so stay tuned to TNW to find out what the company has in store. Garmin, too, has an Alexa-compatible dash cam that be used in a auto.

It's believed Amazon will unveil a few of these Alexa-powered devices at an event later this month.

Amazon didn't immediately reply to a request for comment. The report notes that the upcoming amplifier can be used as the central audio panel to control multiple speakers set up across a users' home, while the upcoming microwave can bring Alexa in the home's kitchen.

Jurgen Klopp praises Neymar's 'smart' play-acting in build up to PSG clash
Brazilian global Neymar has come under fire in recent months for his antics, having been accused of diving regularly at this summer's World Cup.

The news comes via CNBC, which reports that at least eight new Alexa-powered products are on the way which include a subwoofer, an amplifier and a receiver. Of course, there are rumours that Amazon is also building robots for the home. The company acquired Ring, a smart doorbell maker that also makes Alexa-compatible devices, earlier this year.

More so than other virtual assistants including Siri and the Google Assistant, Amazon's Alexa has always been focused on the home. Sonos has a similar business model.

Much like Sonos' partnership with IKEA, the more places Amazon can place its Alexa AI the better it is for the company.

'There are now tens of thousands of developers across more than 150 countries building new devices using the Alexa Voice Service, and the number of Alexa-enabled devices has more than tripled in the past year'.
