Dallas Officer Amber Guyger, who is facing a manslaughter charge after fatally shooting 26-year-old Botham Jean in his Cedars apartment September 6, was sacked Monday.
Guyger was sacked during a hearing held Monday after an Internal Affairs investigation concluded that she engaged in adverse conduct, according to a message posted on the Twitter account for the Dallas Police Department.
Guyger was arrested on a preliminary charge of manslaughter days after the shooting.
Ms Guyger is now out on bail, pending a criminal trial. The officer claimed she entered Jean's home thinking it was her own and mistook him for a burglar, according to court documents.
In a statement, the department says she was sacked during a hearing Monday morning.
Mata called for Guyger to have fair treatment, but also said she should answer for her actions.
Jean, 26, grew up on the Caribbean island of St Lucia and went on to work for the professional services giant PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Four Reasons the New Accusations Against Kavanaugh Are Weaker Than Ford's | Trending
Susan Collins, R-Maine, a potential swing vote on Kavanaugh, said Friday she was "appalled" by Trump's tweets. The classmate independently recalled numerous same details Ramirez told The New Yorker about the incident.
According to an affidavit filed against Perez, police were looking for a suspect when Guyger and another officer were called to assist a third officer. She turned herself in three days later, and is now out on bond.
A four-year veteran of the department, Guyger has the right to appeal the disciplinary action, according to the tweet.
But the criminal investigations aren't complete.
Guyger has been with the department since 2013. Hall also said that an internal investigation could "potentially compromise the criminal investigation".
Police said that Jean was fatally shot once in the torso. When she opened the door fully, Guyger saw a "large silhouette" across the room and began giving commands, which Jean "ignored", the affidavit said.
Some of the demonstrators rolled empty coffins as they marched outside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, ahead of Sunday's Cowboys game to protest recent fatal police shootings.
