Google Maps adds new features for the commuters among us

The map shows every leg of your journey

Finally, Google is integrated Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Music support into Google Maps.

Google Maps' new commute features are now available on Android and iOS devices. With the addition of one-tap access to live traffic information and support for mixed modes of transit, it should be easier to know when you should leave to be on time.

But an update to Google Maps software fixes this by letting you control Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play tunes from within the Maps app while in navigation mode.

If you've setup your commute route in Maps, it means you'll be able to see any problems before setting off for work or heading home.

Google Maps was spotted testing a "Commute" tab on Android early last month, and it was seen to replace the Driving and Transit (aka Transport) tabs. In Sydney, the app will also inform you how full the next bus or train is, so you'll know whether or not you'll get a seat. Google is aware of that, and today the company announced a series of improvements to the Google Maps app which aim to make your time on the road a little less frustrating. According to Google, daily commutes - whether by vehicle or public transit options - consume the equivalent of two weeks each year on average.

Google's YouTube Said to Be Hosting Videos on 'How to Hack Facebook'
Have the attackers stolen your personal information? There you will see a hyperlinked text saying "Where you're logged in". And even if you weren't hacked yourself, messages you sent to people who were hacked may still be caught up in the hack.

Google realizes this and is updating Google Maps to try and help.

The app will tell users whether they can expect a normal commute or if they will be delayed. The app will automatically highlight delays caused by accidents, heavy traffic, or other disruptions and offer alternative routes to help you get to work faster.

For those who rely on public transportation, Google Maps has been updated to provide transit riders in 80 regions with information on where exactly their bus or train is, with real-time tracking on the map. This feature, Google says, will roll out to more cities worldwide "soon".

A commute tab is being added that will display all of the live traffic information that you might find useful.
