Vice President Mike Pence charged China on Thursday with conducting a sweeping campaign aimed at meddling in the America's internal politics, and undermining U.S. President Donald Trump.
The comments follow Trump's announcement last week at the United Nations that China is seeking to interfere in the U.S.'s midterm elections slated for early November.
"It is very ridiculous for the United States side to stigmatise its normal exchanges and cooperation with China as China interfering in its internal affairs and elections", said Hua, adding that China always follows the principle of non-interference in others' internal affairs and has no interest in meddling in USA internal affairs and elections.
"The relevant speech made unwarranted accusations against China's domestic and foreign policies and slandered China by claiming that China meddles in USA internal affairs and elections".
"China now spends as much on its military as the rest of Asia combined, and Beijing has prioritized capabilities to erode America's military advantages-on land, at sea, in the air, and in space", Pence said.
Bolton said that the Chinese actions are certainly aimed at affecting elections.
- China provides money to US universities, think tanks and scholars with the understanding that they will avoid ideas that the Communist Party finds offensive, Pence said.
China "has taken a sharp U-turn toward control and oppression", Pence said, adding: "A new wave of persecution is crashing down on Chinese Christians, Buddhists and Muslims".
In a blistering speech at a think-tank, Pence on Thursday alleged that China has mounted an unprecedented effort to not only meddle the upcoming United States polls, but also shape the public opinion of the country.
China's "aggressive industrial policies" have already impacted some critical capabilities, including solar cells for military use, flat-panel aircraft displays and the processing of rare earth elements, the report states.

US Vice President Mike Pence has called on Google to end its censored Chinese Search engine the "Dragonfly" project.
Flagging a more assertive stance across the whole spectrum of US-China relations, he broadened the attack to include political infiltration, such as exploiting divisions between local and federal governments to advance Beijing's influence, spying by student groups, and threats to American businesses as well as the usual trade and commercial grievances, such as intellectual property theft.
- Beijing compelled Delta Airlines to publicly apologize for not calling Taiwan a "province of China" on its website, he said.
- Beijing's censors edit or outlaw USA movies that criticize China.
"It's not even the same thing as the election interference", Watts said.
"Despite such reckless harassment, the United States Navy will continue to fly, sail and operate wherever global law allows", Pence said. It is an unprecedented roll-out of President Donald Trump's China strategy that could plunge the two nations into a more unsafe tit-for-tat cycle than their trade war.
Beijing quickly responded in a statement Friday, accusing Pence of "malicious slander" and urging the USA to "correct its wrongdoing".
"Even if you accept all of Pence's complaints at face value, it's hard to make the case that the administration's Cold War-style vilification of China will be effective or beneficial to USA interests, since it's clearly pushing Beijing to intransigence, not compromise".
"China has initiated an unprecedented effort to influence American public opinion, the 2018 [mid-term] elections, and the environment leading into the 2020 presidential election", he said at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank in Washington DC, The Guardian reported.
