Saudi troops were part of alleged 'hit squad' that targeted Khashoggi

When asked by reporters on Monday about the disappearance on Monday, Trump said, "I am concerned about it". 'I don't like hearing about it and hopefully that will sort itself out.

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy said the investigation was "continuing intensively", and that the Vienna Convention allowed for consulates to be searched by the authorities of the host country with the consent of the mission chief.

Last week, Jamal Khashoggi went missing while visiting the Saudi Arabian consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

"We have nothing to hide", the prince said, claiming that the journalist exited the building "after a few minutes or one hour".

Turkish officials allege he was murdered inside the consulate.

A USA official said that Turkish investigators believe Khashoggi was probably dismembered and his body removed in boxes and flown out of the country.

Flight records reportedly show that a Gulf Stream IV private jet, tail number HZ-SK2, landed in Istanbul at 3am on October 2, the day Mr Khashoggi disappeared.

Why it matters: The incident threatens a diplomatic crisis in Turkey's relations with Saudi Arabia.

A Turkish security source told Reuters that a group of 15 Saudi nationals, including some officials, had arrived in Istanbul in two planes and entered the consulate on the same day Khashoggi was there, and later left the country. Its passengers checked into two hotels near the consulate and booked rooms until October 5.

China orders more lending to entrepreneurs amid trade spat
The gauges followed Hong Kong's Hang Seng index, which remained open during the holiday and slid 4.38 percent over its course. China's yuan was weaker at 6.8979 per US dollar at 0333 GMT, compared with a previous onshore close of 6.8725 per dollar.

The Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Khalid bin Salman, who is also the brother of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, denies these claims.

The U.S.is concerned about Khashoggi's whereabouts, Nauert said, and would like to see the Saudi government conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into what happened to him.

Trump said that USA economic success was due in part to "what we are doing with our defense systems", and added: "Frankly I think that would be a very, very tough pill to swallow for our country."Investigation continuesTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters Thursday that Turkey "cannot remain silent" on the disappearance of Khashoggi".

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared reluctant to go on a diplomatic war with Saudi Arabia today as he made a low-key statement on the fate of a missing Saudi dissident.

Cengiz called on President Trump and first lady Melania Trump to "help shed light" on Khashoggi's disappearance. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said it would be time for the U.S.to rethink its relationship with Saudi Arabia if it turned out Khashoggi was lured to his death by the Saudis.

"When President Trump became president, we've changed our armament strategy again for the next 10 years to put more than 60% with the United States of America", he added.

Turkish officials have said they believe Khashoggi, 59, a critic of the Saudi leadership and a contributor to The Washington Post's Global Opinions section, was killed by a team of 15 Saudis flown in specifically to carry out the attack. While a military conflict is not likely to arise between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, this new development will place more strain on the relationship, further complicating the already hard situation in the Middle East.

"If the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi is proved, I invite all walks of life in Saudi Arabia to cooperate in a legal measure and change the political system through civil disobedience", Farhan al-Saud wrote on his twitter page on Monday.

He is also a former editor of the Saudi newspaper al-Watan and had worked with Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a grandson of the first Saudi king who was detained a year ago as part of what the authorities said was an anti-corruption campaign.
