The New York Giants have waived former first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers and signed tackle Brian Mihalik off their practice squad to replace him.

NY has FINALLY realized that, and the former Miami Hurricane will reportedly be released on Tuesday if he's not traded by 4 p.m. ET.

NY selected Flowers out of Miami (Fla.) with the ninth pick of the 2015 National Football League draft. Louis Rams selecting Todd Gurley.

Shurmur moved Flowers to right tackle after Solder was signed and said he was getting a fresh start.

Scouts were concerned about Flowers' pass protection abilities coming out of college, and he proved those concerns to be warranted.

Flowers, 24, is in the final year of a four-year, $14.3 million rookie contract, which includes a team option.

Moving on from the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy A9 comes with an unknown octa-core processor that's clocked at 2.2 GHz. The Korean company's new phone will also feature mobile payment capabilities and expandable storage of up to 512GB.

The Giants had hoped to find a trade partner, but that was always unlikely because they would have been responsible for the $1.69 million he was owed the rest of the season.

More from Yahoo Sports:• What was Cowboys coach thinking on 4th-down decision?

Apparently, the Giants did not want to wait that long to make the move or it was abundantly clear that no one wanted him. "We appreciate Ereck's efforts, and we just wish him the best".

This year did not begin well for Flowers under the new regime led by general manager Dave Gettleman. He has been on the Giants practice squad since September 13. "Sometimes a change of scenery is good". When he finally showed, they still immediately inserted him as the first-team right tackle.

Following a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Flowers was benched in favor of Chad Wheeler, who hasn't provided an enormous upgrade.
