Major League Baseball investigates suspected Astros cheating in ALCS Game 1

MLB investigated the Astros after an incident during Game 1 in Boston

The Houston Astros seem to be in trouble with Major League Baseball after a man, claiming to be a team employee, was removed from a media-credentialed area next to the Boston Red Sox dugout in Game 1 of the ALCS, according to Metro.

The Red Sox are 3-0 on the road so far in this postseason, having defeated the Yankees twice in the AL Division Series; the Yankees put up a 54-28 record at the Stadium, and the Astros were 48-35 at Minute Maid Park, though they have been an even better 59-25 away from home. He was in possession of a small camera and had been texting regularly while near the dugout.

Citing security sources, Boston Metro reported that a man claiming to be an Astros employee was removed from the credentialed area for media next to the Boston Red Sox dugout Saturday night at Fenway Park.

After being approached by security, the man left without incident but a second person attempted to replace him several innings later and was denied access to the field area, the AP was told.

And with Boston up 4-2 and the bases loaded, Bradley said goodnight with a grand slam to right field on a 1-1 pitch.

Victims of Crimea school attack killed by gunshots
Russian news media, however, reported that at least some of the victims died in an attack by an unidentified gunman or gunmen. Aksyonov told Russian state television the death toll from the attack now stood at 18, up from a previous estimate of 13.

According to ESPN, the Astros were using the man to monitor the Red Sox and make sure they weren't doing anything outside the rules.

After being dispatched by the Astros in the first round of the playoffs, the Cleveland Indians apparently warned the Boston Red Sox that Houston might attempt to steal signs or information from their dugout.

"I'm aware of something going on, but I haven't been briefed", Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after Tuesday's Game 3 loss to the Sox. "That's an Major League Baseball issue", Cora said.

"I'm always concerned about [sign-stealing] throughout the season", Cora said after the game. "But I just heard today".

The Yahoo Sports report adds the Astros were suspected of stealing signs by the Oakland Athletics during a series in late August and by the Los Angeles Dodgers during last year's World Series, which Houston won in Game 7. The fireballing right-hander, trolled on Monday by charismatic Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, failed to retire the 2018 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in three at-bats, as Bregman notched a single, double and walk. It was done early in the game, caught early in the game.
