Police say dozens of infant remains found in second Detroit funeral home

About 63 fetuses and infants have been removed from a Detroit funeral home, the second facility where remains have been improperly disposed.

Police said that during the raid, they found approximately 37 fetuses stored in cardboard boxes and 26 stashed in a freezer.

A person can be found guilty of a felony under Michigan Law for "failure to or refusal to supervise the final disposition of a dead human body" more than 180 days after a funeral, ABC News reports.

"We have tremendous work today", the police chief said.

Police also raided the QA Cantrell Funeral Home in suburban Eastpointe yesterday.

LARA now has an open investigation into Perry Funeral Home and has notified the Michigan Attorney General's office and the Detroit Police Department of its findings and regulatory actions.

Doctors: You can not get the flu from the flu shot
He noted during the H1N1 pandemic, about 50 per cent of people got the flu shot but after that, it dropped to below 20 per cent. In 2017, almost 330,000 of the nearly 890,000 people eligible for the flu vaccine did not go and get their flu vaccine.

Officers made the "deeply disturbing" discovery in Detroit on Friday, with some of the bodies having dates of death as far back as 2015.

Police discovered three unrefrigerated boxes containing "36 deceased bodies of fetuses or infants plus a deep freezer containing an unknown number of additional deceased bodies" at the Perry Funeral Home, according to a press release from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

The mother and father sued Perry Funeral Home in July, alleging that the company had claimed to bury Alayah and several other infants at a particular cemetery, but had actually stored their bodies for years in a mortuary school morgue. In some cases, the home embalmed remains without the knowledge or consent of the families, the department said.

"It's because of the first story involving Cantrell that the second issue emerged", Craig said.

Craig said he had "never seen anything" like what was discovered at the two funeral homes.

In the meantime, there even more questions - like what's happening with the hundreds of cremated remains from Cantrell Funeral Home.
