Google Pixel 3 XL gets horrifying second notch thanks to weird glitch

Though we're not entirely sure why the Google Pixel 3 XL would even need a virtual notch cutout (especially one that doesn't hold any speakers, cameras or other sensors), there's no denying that it is indeed a amusing sight. The Pixel 3 XL was already chided at launch for its large notch, which takes up a good chunk of the screen.

The phantom notch bug has affected several users who posted pictures of the weird glitch on Twitter.

In developer mode, users can also add notches to the right-hand top of the screen and the bottom of the screen. This week, some Pixel 3 XL users reported a software bug, causing a second display notch to appear on the side of the screen. Reportedly, the screen rotation feature is getting mixed up with the phone's orientation and this is what is bringing the extra notch of the side of the phone. However, other users, including UrAvgConsumer, indicate that the problem will only go away after restarting the handset or changing the developer settings. Google doesn't want to hide the notch.

Apple launches new MacBook Air
It's 15.6mm thick, which is 10 per cent thinner than existing the MacBook Air, and it weighs 1.24 kilograms. The Air is the only computer in Apple's current line-up that lacks the Retina display now it gets one.

Google says it's aware of the glitch, and a fix is coming soon.

Google is working on a software update for all Pixel phones after a rash of complaints about unsaved photos.

Apart from the camera, one of the best things about the Pixel 3 XL is the notch that equips the dual selfie camera, earpiece and the sensor.
