Amazon: 2 contractors died in building collapse

They used heavy equipment to shift debris including concrete and eventually found the second victim on Saturday morning at about 7.30am, according to the Baltimore Sun.

This footage, showing the Amazon facility, was taken by videographer Vincent Figueroa.

Fire officials responded to a call about a potential collapse of the Amazon Fulfillment Center building at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night.

In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson told the Sun that, 'First responders remain onsite assessing the damage.

At least two people died in the partial collapse of an Amazon.com Inc distribution warehouse.

Fire department chief Roman Clark told the Baltimore Sun that a 15-metre wall collapsed as a storm hit the area. "The safety of our employees and contractors is our top priority, and at this time the building remains closed".

The Weather Service's report came after it sent damage-assessment teams to the Baltimore/Dundalk area and to Mount Airy to see whether tornadoes had touched down there. "Thank you to the emergency response teams who have been working through the night".

The tornado blew off a section of the roof of what Amazon calls its Baltimore sortation center, near the city's eastern border in Dundalk. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by yesterday's tragic event".

Officials said there weren't any other reports of people missing.
